Eating In Berlin

On a recent trip to Berlin with fellow food lover and pro-photographer Hannah Young,  we indulged in an impressive amount of post-sightseeing nourishment. Some of which was too good to keep a secret so while you wait to board your next flight to Berlin, sit back and drool in anticipation because good things are coming your way.

Here’s my best bites (see what I did there?)…

BEST BREAKFAST: LA FEMME

You might already know how much I love Turkish food. If I can hunt it down, anywhere, I will – and I did! La Femme is an awesome Turkish cafe on Chausseestraße in Mitte with a massive menu of fresh baked Turkish treats and breakfast options.

BEST BRUNCH: FACTORY GIRL

A really lively and modern cafe with a quirky table sharing concept and a big menu full of tasty flavour combo’s. The atmosphere and food here were both awesome!

BEST LUNCH: CAFE AM NEUEN SEE

A  lovely country house and beer garden in the Tiergarten. Perfect for warming up on a chilly day by the log burners. This place is in a really lovely location and the pizza’s are huge.

BEST DINNER: DISTRICT MOT

For a real authentic experience, District MOT serves really fresh Vietnamese street food. The decor is fantastic and the food was delicious! We cooked our own beef and noodles at our table on a very cool BBQ machine and the whole experience was amazing.

BEST COFFEE: THE BARN MITTE

In 4 days, we got through 14 coffees and our favourite was at The Barn (closely followed by Brammibal’s). Really nice coffee and a really nice atmosphere with a great vibe.

BEST SNACK: BRAMMIBAL’S DOUGHNUTS

Absolutely delicious handmade vegan doughnuts! This place was on the itinerary before we even got to Berlin after i’d read raving reviews about it and now I know exactly what all the fuss was about. You can’t go to Berlin and not visit this place! It made us so happy that we chomped our way through SIX doughnuts in two visits. The coffee was delicious too.

BEST CAFÉ: ITALIO FRITZEN

A really nice cafe restaurant with a great menu, really nice ingredients and healthy breakfast options. Great coffee too! Well worth a visit at any time of day.

BEST BURGER: SHISO BURGER

Freshly prepared burgers with an Asian twist, this place is cool! It’s directly next door to Factory Girl which I mentioned above. I recommend the salmon burger – it was 10/10.

BEST PIZZA: ZOLA

Book a table in advance or be prepared to wait because this place gets really busy but, with a menu that consists only of wood-fired pizza choices, the tables turn quickly and it’s definitely worth the wait. The pizzas are delicious – the best pizza i’ve ever had! Great beer too.

BEST BEER: HOFBRÄU MÜNCHEN

For the ultimate Bavarian beer house and traditional German food experience, this place is a real treat! Located in Alexanderplatz, the Hofbräu München offers live music, waiting staff in traditional costume, steins of beer and proper Bavarian dishes. The beer was really good and the whole experience was amazing.

Sky-high dining at it’s finest! Sphere is the revolving restaurant at the top of Berlins TV Tower – 207m above ground. This place serves delicious local Berlin cuisine with 360 degree views of the city.
